Kamala

Kamala is a small beach located north of Patong Beach and south of Bang Tao Beach.  

The area has a strong Muslim heritage and the bar and drinking scene is modest by Thai and Phuket standards.

There are, however, enough bars to keep most visitors occupied, at least during the high tourist season.  

Most are rather small, modest affairs and are located on the Kamala Beach Road.

Several have an outdoor format and there is at least one beer garden.

There are also some modest dinner bars on the beach.

Kamala is the home of the quite large Phuket Fantasea resort so beach visitors can check it out for a drink and dinner.

Nearby Kamala Beach is Surin Beach, a former property of the Thai Royal Family and now an upper end resort with several nice restaurant bars.

Those who want more excitement can go to nearby Patong Beach…although it can sometimes be difficult to arrange transportation.
