Getting to Koh Yao Island

The islands of Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai are just about midway between the northern tip of Phuket and mainland Krabi, so getting there is quite straightforward. The distance from Krabi is around 40 kimometres and the same from Phuket. Attractions and Things to do

Visitors come to these islands to enjoy the "off the beaten track" feel of the place. Its not a Phuket or a Samui, it has few bars and being a mostly Muslim population, it is never going to turn the island over to the more exocitc lifestyles of other Thai resorts. For the majority the islands provide a good home, in a beautiful setting. The beaches on the east coast are not as perfect as those found in Phuket, with some areas quite stony. read

 
 

Eco Tourism

As yet totally unspoilt, these two islands are some of the finest in the area. They are the largest of the Phang Nga Bay, which in total has 50 islands in the area. The east coast of the main island of Yao Noi has a long coastline with clear waters. There are no jet skis, banana boats or other distractions here – simply the sound of the waves lapping on the shore. read

The islands of Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai are the newest additions to the tourist itinerary - especially for those searching for the ultimate getaway island. The main island of Yao Noi now has electricity - this may seem an odd thing to mention but many of these islands have not had such facilities until recently. The best time to visit Koh Yao is between November and February or at the latest, March. The days are very clear with temperatures hovering around the 80°F / 25°C. In the evening the temperatures drop a little by about 5 degrees making for a relaxing time lounging around in your luxury resort or on the veranda hammock something to remember. read
