Promthep Cape in Phuket, Thailand

Promthep Cape is a rugged, rocky hill that just out into the sea at the southernmost end of Phuket Island. Local villagers used to call it "Leam Jao" or God's Cape.

It was the first landmark early seafarers would see when coming to Phuket from the south and has become a symbol of the island, even appearing on the label of Phuket Island's famous beer.

Today, tourists come here in large part to enjoy beautiful sunsets, which they can view from the observation deck of a small lighthouse on the cape.

From the observation deck, one may also view Phi Phi Island and Koh Racha, and the "half-moon" bay surrounding Nai Harn Beach.

Tip: Avoid going to Promthep Cape at night because it is very dark and secluded.
