Big Buddha in Phuket, Thailand

The Buddha is a new construction but has quickly become a major landmark on the island.

Known as the Big Buddha the statue sits atop the Nakkerd Hills between Kata and Chalaong.

At 45 meters high, the Big Buddha is easy to find, and from the hilltop there are terrific views over to Phuket Town, Kata and Karon beaches and Cape Panawa.

The Burmese white marble construction is open to visitors, and provides a peaceful and tranquil experience.

There is a restaurant on the summit of the hill.
